Boya was founded in 2002 in Leiden (the Netherlands) by singer/songwriter Arto Boyadjian. In search of the right form to deliver his strong and very own songs the band changes cast a few times. In 2007 the band is back to the fresh and classic sound of a trio: drums, bass and guitar. Boya’s music distinguishes itself by Arto’s recognizable voice and melodic basslines, Bram Bol’s energetic guitar playing and Ben Bakker’s solid and creative drumparts. The songs are well-defined and sound contemporary and varied.

In short: sophisticated and vivid pop/rock.

In february of 2007 Boya released  a promo-CD entitled “Boya” with 4 songs and they are ready to rock on stage! In the meantime producer Wiboud Burkens and the band keep working on an album. (expected late 2007)

In 2002 Boya released an EP entitled “Five songs" (Order "Five Songs" here)

The press says:

“the sophisticated mix between pop, jazz and rock sounds well-oiled, contemporary and catchy” (Music Maker, april 2003).

“...cunning popsongs that remind you of Billy Joel, Bruce Hornsby and Ben Folds Five” (Fret, summer of 2002).

“mesured by a quality-standard and by the standard of how you take it in it’s simply a beautiful record” (LiveXS, juli/augustus 2002).
